Name:Alicia Fox

Bio:(Updated 1-3-06)
It all began when my carrot-topped hair made its presence known in the little town of Seoul, South Korea. Since then my days of standing apart from the rest of the crowd have continued....although the worship of my hair by the communities of Seoul and Tokyo has since ceased, alas.

My self-deprecating sense of humor tries to hide a usual fleet of insecurities brought on by living in the glamour capital known as Los Angeles. To be in my 30's, unmarried, not thin, and with my own boobs, face and hair color is a bit of a rarity. I try to capitalize on it as being "exotic" but most people, even myself, don't buy it.

About 2 years ago I was rather alarmingly laid off from my former job in media and forced to come to terms with various sins of overindulgence. Faced with a pile of debt, and now with no income, I had to get a job (any job) and fast. So I am now toiling away as an Administrative Assistant whereas before I used to have one. I am making significantly less than I used to, even though I work 2 jobs now. These experiences have made me a better person for it, and now I'm waiting for the kharmic payback for my suffering....

Truly, I think I'm a happier person than I was in my old career. A lot of good things have happened. I've realized that I truly never want to go back to media, and that someday I may resume my original ambition to finish my degree in Art History. What I plan on doing with it, I don't know. I used to think money was evil, and that the most virtuous life was saving the lives of others. But now that I don't have money I'd like to save the lives of others while making enough money for me to be comfortable (as in LOADS of money). Til then I am satisfied with the wealth of new friends I have made. I've had to discipline myself to stay within budget. However, I occasionally grow weary of my more restrictive life and feel like getting out and living. Some day my debts will be resolved, I will be a slender, stunning figure (still without the help of surgery or botox), and still have my wit and intelligence as well. Stay tuned.

Til then if you are interested in better knowing a person who makes mistakes, has 2 cats (but resists becoming a "cat lady"), has a messy apartment, and an even scarier financial debt then read on...

I also:
* am a very loyal friend
* have a wide range of interests (but don't expect me to be an expert on any one of them)
* cry during movies and commercials
* laugh loudly (generally at the appropriate times)
* enjoy travelling and am always up for an adventure
* try to speak 3 languages (including French and Spanish)
* am nearly obsessed with all things Paris (the city of Lights, not Hilton) and have been given the ultimatum by my friends that if I'm not married or seriously attached by the time I'm 40 that I have to move to Paris
* wear a silver Eiffel Tower necklace that I got at the gift store at the top of L'Arc d'Triomphe. (L'Arc isn't as sexy as the tower in a necklace)
* like dogs better than cats but can't rationalize having them while living in an apartment
* enjoy intellectual debates but also secretly indulge in "chick lit" books and reality shows like Amazing Race
* had my first crush on a boy named Ricky when I was 3 years old (I started young)
* admire people who can recite lines from movies (because I'm absolutely horrible at it)
* have been spotted in a crowd because of my hair
* am a big fan of DEPECHE MODE, and won a contest to fly to London to meet them and attend the world premiere listening party of their [then] new album "Songs of Faith and Devotion".
* secretly pine away to be like one of the heroines in a PBS/BBC Edwardian romance (Mr. Darcy, where are you?)
* am magnetized to anything with an accent, especially a French or Spanish accent (a very dangerous addiction too, leading to much heartbreak and geographically undesirable romantic tension, to be sure)
* go off on tangents regularly.....now, what was I saying?
* generally tell a good story

Welcome to the labyrinthian workings of my mind.
